With summer well on its way and Chestermere already experiencing some gorgeous sunny days, residents have been flocking to the new beach and enjoying the large green spaces, the sand and some even brave enough to take a dip in the chilly water.   The beach, located in Anniversary Park (at the intersection of West Chestermere Drive and Chestermere Blvd.), is the result of much planning, hard work and collaboration.  So now that it’s open, here are some things to remember so that everyone can safely enjoy the beach:

This park is unsupervised and use may involve the risk of injury. The City of Chestermere is not responsible for loss or injury to park users or damaged property.

There is no lifeguard on duty. Enter the water at your own risk.

Pets must be on leash and stay on the grass. So, that means NO dogs on the sand or in the water. Take responsibility for picking up after your pet and for their behaviour.

Do not dig below six inches in the sand. A filtration liner is installed under the beach. Digging or placing items such as umbrellas in the sand can puncture the liner.

Littering is prohibited.   There are several garbage and recycling bins in the park and along the beach, let’s use them.

There are no fires in the parks or on the beach.

Smoking and alcohol are not permitted.

The beach is there for all to enjoy and will likely become the social hang out of the summer.  Let’s all do our part to keep it clean and safe.
