On March 7, 2015, the Chestermere/Langdon Ducks Unlimited Canada Social Evening was held in the beautiful upstairs function room at the Chestermere Landing. This event sold out ten days prior and had all the who’s who of Chestermere.
Ducks Unlimited Canada has great people working hard with them and supporting their amazing cause. A total of 934 individuals volunteer their time to further the wetland conservation cause in the province of Alberta. In 2014, they organized 76 special events that were attended by 11,475 people. DUC gives huge credit to their volunteers and supporters for the success that they have and the fundraising they are able to do.
The March 8th Social Evening had 140 in attendance and those guests did not disappoint as around $22,000.00 was raised. This fun filled evening had everything from raffles, silent auction, live auction and a variety of other games that made the event one that will not soon be forgot.
“We would like to specially thank the Chestermere Landing owners and staff for all the work they did to make the event comfortable and fun”, said Brian Wood, long-time member of Ducks Unlimited Canada and one of the event organizers.
Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is the leader in wetland conservation. Using sound science, they deliver on-the-ground habitat conservation projects, research, education programs and public policy work to conserve, restore and manage wetlands. As a science-based conservation organization, they have their own dedicated team of experienced scientists. The Institute for Wetland and Waterfowl Research (IWWR) is their scientific research arm. Its respected biologists find answers to important environmental questions and establish the value of wetlands to waterfowl and society. Their valuable scientific work helps guide their various conservation programs.
