Sounds more like a banana republic than like Alberta

Dear Editor:

A few moments ago, someone volunteering for the PC campaign came to my door asking me to support former Wildrose MLA and floor crosser, Bruce McAllister, in the upcoming election.  He told me that the PCs have been “good” to Chestermere in the past, and that they would be “good” to Chestermere in the future… if Mr. McAllister wins.

I reject this sort of thinking outright.  In my opinion, this is a blatant admission of government cronyism and corruption.  He implied that not only would Chestermere – Rocky View benefit from electing a PC, but there will be consequences for NOT electing a PC.  This is immoral, anti-democratic, and sounds more like a banana republic than Alberta.

After 40+ years in power, our province’s government has forgotten that it is there to serve us–not vice versa.  It’s us everyday Albertans that start businesses, grow the economy, and pay taxes, while raising families and electing officials to office.  I want low taxes, accessible and timely healthcare, and quality education for my children.  The PCs failed to deliver on any of these even when oil was at $100/barrel because they were being “good” to their friends.

Frankly, I don’t want any government to be “good” to me.  I want it to be fair to everyone, not just its friends.
