Showcasing the latest in home technology

The Future Home is coming to Calgary! Have you ever imagined what internet at the speed of light could achieve? With the Future Home, powered by TELUS Fibre, you can experience the potential of a fibre-optic network and get a sneak peek into the future of home technology.
The 560-square-foot Future Home, which is built to simulate a small condo, offers an immersive technology experience that demonstrates how technology will help us to live more efficiently than ever before:
• Security systems will allow us to secure and unlock our homes using facial recognition; we’ll never have to search for keys again
• Smart cooktops will guide us through a new recipe with a step-by-step demonstration; then calculate the nutritional value of the meal to make sure you stay on track with your wellness plan
• A connected home office with an interactive touch table could be a lifesaver when you’re too sick to go to the doctor’s office; instead, have your appointment over high-definition video conference
• Connected thermostats and lighting will reduce energy costs; enabling you to control you lighting and heating conveniently from your smartphone or tablet
• Next-generation home entertainment could make heading to the movies a thing of the past when the ultra HD Optik TV experience is brought to life on an awe-inspiring 78″ Samsung Curved UHD TV; better yet, while your kids simultaneously stream content on their tablets without interruption
“The TELUS fibre optic network is the most advanced communications infrastructure available in the world today and is laying the groundwork for the smart homes, businesses and cities of tomorrow,” said Tony Geheran, EVP & President, Broadband Networks, TELUS. “We’re investing $1 billion to build the network of the future in Edmonton and the Future Home offers a compelling glimpse into how a fibre optic network will soon transform our homes and enhance our lives.”

The Future Home will be located at the TELUS World of Science in Edmonton from October 2nd to 15th. Admission to TELUS World of Science is not required and tours will be open to the public daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
