Watch Out! You Might Just Get A Positive Ticket!

In collaboration between Chestermere RCMP, Alberta Health Services, Stepping Stones to Mental Health, Synergy, and Chestermere FCSS, we are thrilled to launch a new program in Chestermere called the Positive Ticketing Program. The program will kick off this July and will run until October 2015.
The Positive Ticketing program will recognize youth approxiamately between the ages of 13 – 18 who are observed by local RCMP members doing something positive within the community. Typically, tickets are seen as a form of punishment; however, the Positive Ticketing Program will place emphasis on the youth’s positive behavior within their community. The Chestermere RCMP are going to be issuing “tickets” to youth who they have caught making positive choices in relation to their actions and behaviors, such as wearing a bike helmet, picking up litter, holding the door for someone, crossing at the crosswalk, stopping at a stop sign or even wearing their seatbelt just to name a few. The tickets are in fact, rewards in the form of gift certificates or coupons purchased from local businesses. The Positive Ticketing program aims to focus on the positive actions of youth, as well as, bringing our community together.
The Positive Ticketing program will be kicking off at the Canada Day celebration; please stop by the information booth to learn more about program. To contact the committee about more information and how to get involved, please email chestermerepositiveticketing@gmail.com.
