Focus on Facility Funders: Foot-by-Foot Fundraiser

ReidBuilt Centre for Community Leadership

One of Synergy’s youth groups, Youth Encouraging Lasting Leadership (YELL), started the Foot-by-Foot fundraising campaign to raise funds for the creation of a gathering room at the ReidBuilt Centre for Community Leadership in May, 2016. Yell set a goal to fund at least 100 square feet of space and every $140 of collected donations contributes to one square foot. The gathering room is a versatile space that will support groups, clubs and Not-for-Profit organizations by giving them a functional space to operate out of.
YELL is a youth group for ages 13-17+ that empowers youth to become engaged members of their community through volunteerism, social activism and self-determination. YELL is actively involved in fundraising for causes they care deeply about including anti-bullying and now a new place to call home, the ReidBuilt Centre for Community Leadership.
All donors will be recognized on a recognition wall to be displayed in the ReidBuilt Centre for Community Leadership. On behalf of YELL, Synergy would like to thank all who have donated to the Foot-by-Foot fundraiser. To date, supporters include:
Lake Ridge Community Church, Waiting Room Café, Todd Mitchell, Shelley Moore – Moore Law Practice, Asset Insurance Brokers, The Chestermere Anchor, Sproule Family, Sue Mills, Alicea Sproule, Baker Family, Sproule/Benteau Family, Chestermere/Langdon Oilmen’s Association, Weicht Family, Vivian McKenzie, and The General Store/ Rintoul Family

One of the major sponsors of this fundraiser, Shelley Moore of Moore Law practice, chose to support Synergy because, as a criminal defense lawyer who works with youth, she believes it is important to focus on the early years of a person’s life in order to prevent them from the possibility of entering the criminal justice system. Most of the people she knows who are involved in the system, as adults, have experienced troubled or lonely times during their youth and have not had a great place to belong like the ReidBuilt Centre for Community Leadership and the support that Synergy provides to the character building of our community’s youth . The Chestermere/Langdon Oilmen’s Association has also been an important supporter of this fundraiser, raising $900 for this fundraiser from their Oilmen’s Bike Ride Against Bullies Event
‘I see nothing but positive possibilities from the new facility. A positive place for kids/teens to go, a facility where parents can feel comfortable and safe knowing that their kids are going to, a program where we as a community can feel proud that we are being pro-active in taking initiative and showing everyone that we care about the kids/teens that live in our community and that we want the very best for them. We are willing to work together as a community and build a safe and structured environment to ensure that our kids/teens truly become our amazing future leaders of tomorrow.’ states Shelley Moore.
Synergy is very grateful to all those that have contributed to the Foot- by-Foot Fundraiser which will enable them to better serve the community and allow for more opportunities to collaborate with other community organizations.
