Emergency crews responded at about 9:30 a.m. to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 1 near Range Road 274 Nov. 15.
One male in his 30’s was extricated by fire fighters and transported by EMS to hospital in serious condition.
Witness told EMS that an Eastbound SUV appeared to lose control before rolling multiple times. The vehicle came to rest on its roof under the rail.
On arrival paramedics were unable to verify the number of occupants of the vehicle and requested additional units while a search was conducted for additional patients that may have been ejected from the SUV as it rolled.
After a search, it was determined that the male driver of the vehicle was the sole occupant of the vehicle when it crashed.
STARS air ambulance was originally called to transport the patient due to the substantial damage to the vehicle and long estimated extrication time. Highway 1 was briefly closed to traffic to prepare a landing zone.
Fire crews were able to complete the extrication quicker than estimated and the patient as transported by ground ambulance.
RCMP continue to investigate the rollover.
