Participants from all walks of life come out to support the Chestermere Rotary Club

Three years ago the Chestermere Rotary Club had this brainstorm to host a race type event themed after the popular TV show, ‘The Amazing Race’. With the help of local business owners, venues and volunteers, the first Rotary’s Amazing Race was a huge success and had many participants hoping that this event would become a Chestermere tradition.

Year two of the race saw some changes and a slight drop in participation but those that took part in the race put their whole heart into it making it another successful fundraiser for the Chestermere Rotary Club.

Saturday September 17th, 2016 will see the third annual Rotary Amazing Race and team registrations are now being accepted. For those that haven’t experienced this the past two years, the Rotary’s Amazing Race allows competitors to experience the thrill and excitement of an Amazing Race right here in Chestermere.

Teams of four will race around Chestermere deciphering clues and puzzles and navigating their way through challenges, relying on teamwork to race against the clock for a chance to win many fabulous prizes, including a chance at cash prizes of $1,000, $500 or $250 for the top 3 teams.

Competitors of all ages and fitness levels are welcome, however there must be one adult holding a valid driver’s license per team as the race takes you to every corner of Chestermere.

Challenges in the past have included hot wing eating competitions, performing a manicure, paddle boarding, drawing a tattoo and many more at local businesses.

The Rotary only allows the top twenty-four teams, determined by who raises the most money, to participate so the race has already begun for those coveted spots. To enter your team, you must visit www.crowdrise.com/rotaryamazingrace/ and sign your team up. After that teams need to raise a minimum of $250 in order to participate….while still being on of top twenty-four teams raising the most money. Should your team not be one of the final participating teams, any funds that were donated to your team will be refunded to their donors.

Fundraising is only open until September 12th and at the time of this article, there is only one team registered and only $30 raised.

On September 17th, registration and check in will take place from 8:15 – 8:45am at John Peake Memorial Park with the race then running from 9:00am to 12pm wrapping up with a awards presentation & BBQ lunch provided by Eric’s No Frills in the Chestermere Business Park (No Frills parking lot).

So get your team together and get those funds raised. For more information you can contact the Chestermere Rotary Club at rotaryamazingrace@gmail.com
