Sarah Thompson School News November

It is hard to believe that December is right around the corner. With the beautiful weather, our students have been enjoying lots of outside time. They see how the leaves and grass have changed, they observe “critters” in their natural habitat and how they burrow to plan for the winter. Our students have been taking lots of pictures and digitally documenting their learning. We are environmental stewards, and the more students learn about Langdon’s unique landscape, the more they can do to preserve it.

Our recent Remembrance Day assembly showcased the talents of all our students. It was a very reflective and moving ceremony. A special thank you to everyone who contributed to our Veterans Food Drive. If you would like to see the grade 4 and 5 students practice before the service, you can tune into our Sarah Thompson School Youtube site.

As well, follow us on Twitter at SarahThompsonSc to see the other wonderful things our students are doing.

We have many events taking place in December. On December 2nd at 6:30 the fundraising arm of the school council, FoSTES (Friends of Sarah Thompson Elementary Society) will be holding a family movie night. Please join us for the movie, Dory 2. The admission is free, however children must be accompanied by their parent or guardian.

The Kindergarten students will be performing their Christmas Concert on December 13th. Morning class dress rehearsal will be at 9:30am, afternoon class dress rehearsal is at 1:30pm and the evening performance with all kinder students will be at 6pm. If you are joining us for the evening performance, the cost is $3.00 per person, which will cover both evenings (school wide and kinder concert). As well, join us after for cookies, and hot chocolate.

The grade two and four students will be performing on December 14th at
Please remember that for the evening performance you must purchase tickets. $3.00 per ticket to a maximum of six tickets. The afternoon performance is free of charge. The dress rehearsal is at 10:30am and the evening performance starts at 6:30pm. The doors will open at 6pm. It is first come first served seating. We will not be reserving seats.

Just a reminder that Sarah Thompson School has a clothing bin set up at in the Buy–Low parking lot. We are so fortunate to have the support of our local businesses. Any gently used clothing can be placed in the bin. The clothing is taken, weighed and given to people in need. In turn, the school receives a small donation. This is a win-win for everyone and we sincerely thank all those people who have supported us.

As this is the season of reflection and giving thanks, on behalf of the Sarah Thompson School staff, we would like to take a moment to thank all our incredible volunteers and supporters. We know, “it takes a village to raise a child”, and we are so fortunate to have so many thoughtful individuals that give so selflessly to our school. Our school culture can only benefit for this support and we know that this enhances the learning experiences of our students.
