Save the date for Synergy projects

For the past two wonderful winter seasons, Synergy has had an absolute blast coordinating big ol’ Community Dinners in Langdon and Indus. We truly enjoy and appreciate these communities and the wonderful families and devoted individuals that make them such great places to live.

As December draws near, Synergy could not be more thrilled to be involved in yet another special community gathering. In collaboration with the Bow Valley Agriculture Society and the Indus Recreation Centre, we invite you to join us at a Community Pre-Christmas Event you will definitely not want to miss. There will be no shortage of fun!

WHEN: December 9th, 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm
WHERE: Indus Recreation Centre
WHAT: Public skating, sleigh rides, bon fire, mechanical bull rides + sweet treats
WHO: You, you and more you!

Synergy Youth and Community Development Society has been active in Langdon, Rural SE Rocky View and Chestermere since 2013. We offer Youth Leadership and Wellness Programming, as well as, work alongside other community organizations to create and deliver many positive home grown initiatives.
programs and opportunities:
 
Creative Kids (ages 7-9) – Projects that promote confidence, as well as, develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Children build healthy relationships and develop trust and resiliency with community mentors and local facilitators.

SHOUT (ages 10 – 12) – Provides an introduction to leadership education by emphasizing experiential learning. This approach improves an individual’s teamwork, communication, and social skills allowing them to become active members of the community.
 
YELL Youth Council (ages 13 – 17+) – Empowers youth to become conscientious members of their community through leadership education such as volunteerism, social activism and self-determination. With support from adult mentors and positive collaboration with external organizations, youth develop healthy social connections and leadership skills through extensive community engagement.

YELL Coffee Talk (ages 13 – 17+) – A weekly informal session where youth reconnect and discuss the social issues that are important to them with peers and mentors.

One to One Youth Mentorship (ages 12 – 17+) – A caring Wellness Education Mentor connects youth in need with appropriate professional services and engages them in community activities and programs. the role of being a consistent, healthy, non-parent, adult relationship support within the community.
  
Other opportunities include:

• Youth Internship Program
• youth retreats
• Homework Helpers (Gr. 4-12)
• monthly community game night
• Wellness Education Events/Workshops
• Langdon summer drop in
• PILOT – Youth LGBTQ* Wellness Education Group

Regardless of where you live, you are welcome to take part in any or all of these programs! Synergy offers all of these programs and opportunities at a very minimal cost and often times at no fee at all. An individual annual membership is $50 and only $75 for a family. Subsidies are available for everything we do so that everyone can take part – no one is ever turned away.
