We would like to welcome back and highlight our returning Board of Trustee members.

• Cheryl Low (Wards 9, 10 & Chestermere) – Cheryl Low has been on the Board of Trustees for the past four years and is now entering her second term. She has served as chair of the board since June 2015. She is also the acting chair of the Metro School Boards Group and served as vice-chair for Zone 5 for the Alberta School Boards’ Association (ASBA). Trustee Low has over 25 years of experience in the IT sector and has been actively involved in education as a parent, school council chair, facilitator for the Alberta School Council’s Association and participant in Alberta Education initiatives. She has lived in Calgary and Chestermere since 1990 and has two sons who have been educated through the CCSD.

• Mary Martin (Wards 13 & 14) – Mary Martin has been on the Board for over a decade and is now serving her fourth term. Trustee Martin has held numerous positions within the district and board since 1995, including serving as board chair and vice-chair, as well as school council chair at several schools. Trustee Martin has also been president, vice-president and board member for ASBA and past director for the Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association (ACSTA). Trustee Martin has worked as an acute care RN for over 30 years. She has served on various provincial and national committees and task forces related to student health. She and her four children are graduates of the CCSD.

• Linda Wellman (Wards 3, 5 & Airdrie) – Linda Wellman has served on the Board for the past 28 years, during which time, she has served in many capacities locally and provincially. Trustee Wellman was board chair in 2014-2015 and 1998-1999, and held the position of vice-chair for four years. At the provincial level, Trustee Wellman has served as vice-president of ACSTA. Trustee Wellman has volunteered for various school councils, community associations and constituency associations. She previously worked in human resources. She is married and has three adult children who are all graduates of CCSD.

• Cathie Williams (Wards 11 & 12) – Cathie Williams is currently serving her fifth term as a member of the Board. She served as chair during her second term, vice-chair during her first term and chair of the Audit Committee during her third term. Trustee Williams has been involved with ASBA as a member of the Board of Directors and Budget Committee and as a representative for Zone 5. She has held numerous volunteer positions including school councils, Scouts Canada and the Board of Directors with the Calgary Learning Centre. A native Calgarian, Trustee Williams has three sons who are all graduates of Bishop Grandin High School.
