Charges laid in attempted abduction in Langdon

Calgary man charged after RCMP investigation

Strathmore RCMP have charged 32-year-old Calgarian Mohamad Jeha with attempted kidnapping and assault after an attempted abduction in Langdon last month.

The charges stem from an Aug. 16 incident that saw RCMP responding to a call of an attempted abduction of a young adult woman in Langdon.

The women was approached by an unknown male who, despite her rebukes, became insistent in his attempts to ‘pick her up.’

She was then grabbed by the male who attempted to force her to take a picture with him and talked about how he wanted her to come with him.

The victim tried to leave but was grabbed by her neck and dragged towards the male’s vehicle.

At this point a bystander intervened causing the male to flee the scene.

Strathmore RCMP were assisted in their investigation by the Calgary Police Service and the Airdrie RCMP General Investigation Section.

Jeha has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Strathmore Provincial Court on Sept. 19, 2017.
