Derek Fildebrandt was officially elected to be the Freedom Conservative Party (FCP) of Alberta’s first office leader on Oct. 20.

“Isn’t it a great day to be an Albertan?” Fildebrandt said.

“Believe it or not, I really-really wanted someone to run against me, I didn’t want anyone to beat me,” he added, “It is with deep pride and deep humility that today I accept your acclimation for first official leader of the FCP party of Alberta.”

The FCP is driven not only by the opposition, but by a belief that Alberta must be better. The FCP’s beliefs do not change with the time, they are written on the members hearts, Fildebrandt said.

He added, “I expected us to get complaints from PETA because we are going to slay ever sacred cow in this province that the establishment parties are too cowardly to take on.”

The FCP’s three main principles include responsibility for Alberta’s government, freedom for Albertan’s, and freedom for Alberta.

“Alberta is still treated as an old prairie colony, we are milked until we are dry.

“I believe that the answer is antonymy for Alberta, to build a strong and free Alberta, with the greatest degree of independence as possible within Canada. This begins with Alberta taking our destiny into our own hands,” Fildebrandt said.

“Canada might be broken, but Alberta is broke and until the home front is strong we cannot hope to have the strength to fight Ottawa,” Fildebrandt added, “We will hold a libertarian exorcism.”

Although the FCP has a lot of work ahead, such as raising proceeds, building a constituency association, recruiting and nominating candidates.

“I would say it’s a long road ahead, but it’s not,” Fildebrandt said.
