Formal appointment of new CAO approved

City and Council Briefs

City Council passed two motions to formally appoint Bernard Morton as the City of Chestermere’s new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

The two motions, one to appoint Morton as CAO under the Designated Officer Bylaw and the second to approve the employment agreement, were required under the Municipal Government Act (MGA) to mike the new hire official.

According to the MGA, a municipal council must establish the position of CAO through a bylaw.

Morton will start in the role of CAO effective August 1, 2018, replacing current Interim CAO Pat Vincent who has fulfilled the interim role since December 2017.
