Inspiring healthy actions at the CRCA

Annual Mind, Body and Spirit Expo coming to the recreation centre

The recreation centre is hoping to inspire positive action in residents with the annual Mind, Body and Spirit Expo March 17th in the Main Hall.
“I think health is very simple, it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money,” said Recreation Program Coordinator Vicki Klinger.
“It’s eating well, getting enough rest, drinking your water,” she said.
This year’s theme is “Take Inspired Action.”
Having a health expo, especially one promoting change, tied in with the renewing season of spring seems like a perfect combination but it’s a connection that happened by accident.
Klinger said that when they started the event 10 years ago, March was when they had space on the calendar for a new trade show and it’s just continued from there.
“I actually love that idea that spring is actually a time for new beginnings,” she said.
Klinger is expecting to have between 300-400 people through the recreation centre for the expo which aims to connect Chestermere residents to the services being offered in the community.
The event sees a combination of not for profits and local businesses set up to promote health and wellness.
New to the expo this year, and something that Klinger is really looking forward to, is an all ages activity to create dream boards.
Simply put, a dream board is a visual collection pictures representing the goals for one’s life.
“Create what you want for your life,” said Klinger.
Attendee’s at the expo will have the opportunity to make their own dream board from a variety of provided magazines and other resources for inspiration.
For more information on the expo or to book a vendor table contact Klinger at recreation@chestermerecrca.com.
The expo runs on March 17 in the CRCA Main Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
