Two city councillors appointed to CUI board

Chestermere City council appointed Deputy Mayor Mel Foat and Councillor Cathy Burness to the Chestermere Utilities Inc. Board of Directors at the Feb. 4 council meeting.
“This will… bring the representation from the community to the Board,” said Chestermere Mayor Marshall Chalmers.
The appointments came about after discussions between city council and the current six-person CUI Board.
With the appointments, the CUI board, which can have a maximum of 12 members, will have eight people.
Chalmers expects the move to improve communication and understanding of the CUI board by council.
“This will ensure, that through these two council members, council will enhance our understanding of all the complexities involved in the utilities,” he said.
