The Chestermere Community Mental Health Fair is set to return for its third year on Saturday, May 2, offering residents a welcoming and engaging space to explore mental health in a way that feels accessible, inclusive, and stigma free.
This year’s event is a collaborative effort, with Sull Psychology Services, Harmony Health and Fitness, and Synergy partnering to bring the fair to the community. Together, they aim to create an environment where people can connect with resources, engage in meaningful conversations, and feel supported.
Held at the Chestermere Recreation Centre from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (with doors opening at 10:30 a.m.), the FREE event is open to everyone from youth to older adults, and welcomes all residents from Chestermere, surrounding areas, and across Calgary.
The fair was developed in response to a growing need within the community not just for access to mental health supports, but for spaces where people can come together and have open, honest conversations in a way that feels approachable and engaging. At its core, the event reflects a desire for greater connection, openness, and shared understanding across all ages.
This year’s fair will feature a wide range of interactive booths, offering connections to local psychologists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, fitness studios, and non-profit organizations. Attendees can explore resources, ask questions, and engage with professionals in a relaxed, community focused environment. The trade fair will offer popcorn stations, coffee and refreshments, door prizes, and swag bags for the first 100 attendees. All adding to the welcoming atmosphere.
A unique highlight of the event is its strong emphasis on youth leadership. Local youth will take the stage to present on timely and relevant topics such as aging and adapting, the impact of artificial intelligence, and health and masculinity. These presentations aim to provide valuable insight, and create space for youth voices to be heard and recognized as an important part of the broader conversation.
The fair will also welcome two high profile guest speakers: Canadian Football Hall of Famer Jon Cornish and Olympic curler Jocelyn Peterman. Both athletes will share personal stories of resilience, speaking to adversity, loss, and the pressures of performing at an elite level under public scrutiny. Their discussion will also explore how they maintain their mental health, navigate setbacks, and build resilience both in sport and in everyday life.
The combination of interactive booths, youth perspectives, and well known public figures contributes to a broader message: that mental health is something everyone experiences, and no one has to navigate it alone.
The event is designed for everyone. Whether attending for information, connection, or simply to be part of the community, guests are welcome to stay for the entire event or drop in as their schedules allow. With something for all ages and interests, the fair encourages participation in whatever way feels most comfortable.
Ultimately, the goal of the Chestermere Community Mental Health Fair is to foster a sense of connection and belonging. Whether it’s through a conversation at a booth, a message shared by a speaker, or a moment of personal reflection. The hope is that attendees leave feeling more informed, more connected, and reassured that they are not alone.
The Chestermere Community Mental Health Fair takes place Saturday, May 2 at the Chestermere Recreation Centre Main Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free, and all are welcome. We look forward to seeing you there.
