Eight year old shooting finally making progress in investigation

The details of this case stem back to May 12, 2007 when shots rang out just after midnight. The shooting involved two vehicles of men who gathered at Sunset Park in Chestermere. Shots were fired throughout the park and then those involved jumped into separate vehicles and reportedly sped down Highway #1 westbound while continued to fire shots.
24 year old Pirtpal Singh Jhajj was in one of the vehicles, was wounded during the exchange of gun fire and later died from injuries sustained. Since his death, an ongoing investigation has been underway and finally on Friday September 11, 2015 it was announced that RCMP had arrested and charged two males in relation to the deadly shooting and homicide.
Sanjit RANHU, a 30 year old male of Drumheller has been charged with First Degree Murder and two counts of Discharging a Firearm with Intent to Endanger Life. Amaritpal SINGH, a 29 year old male of Surrey, British Columbia was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder. Both RANHU and SINGH are in custody to appear in court at a later date.
“These arrests are as a result of several years of investigation, perseverance, attention to detail and team work between our various RCMP units”, says Inspector Derek Williams, Officer in Charge of the Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit in Southern Alberta. “There is no time limit on our Homicide investigations when it comes to solving and bringing these matters to the Crown and Court for Prosecution”.
Pirtpal was 24 years old at the time of his death. RCMP investigators have been in contact with the JHAJJ family regarding these developments.
A follow-up media release will be sent once the court dates have been determined.
