CHESTERMERE – You may recall just a few short weeks ago 2 young girls from the Prairie Waters Elementary School got the entire school involved in the first Hair Massacure in Chestermere. The girls, Elizabeth Jossul and her friend Madison Crowe, heard of Hair Massacure from Elizabeth’s Dad, Ron Jossul, who is the manager of the Totem/Rona on 52nd Street SE in Calgary. Hair Massacure was presented to Totem and has carried on now that they have converted to Rona. Hair Massacure was started by the MacDonald family and is run by Tammy MacDonald whose daughter Kali was diagnosed with [...]

CHESTERMERE – My neighbours have a fairly large family and one of the boys is a healthy 10 year old. He often drops by to talk and pet the pooches while we’re out in the front yard. He’s an active kid as most young boys are, riding his bike and skateboarding throughout the neighbourhood and the winding pathways in Chestermere. One of the first things I often say to him as he rides over for a chat is “Where’s your helmet”? He‘ll reply “It’s in the house; my Mom doesn’t make me wear it if I don’t want to”. His [...]

STRATHMORE – I have recently read that the Calgary Stampede is one of the most respected volunteer organizations in the world. Two thousand community volunteers contribute leadership, time, and energy to organize events and activities for the 45 different committees that make the organization run all year long. Stampede shareholders are also volunteers and their shares do not grant dividends or appreciate, nor can they be sold. Every March, shareholders elect the Board of Directors at the annual general meeting and once again Strathmore’s Teri McKinnon has been selected to be a Stampede Board member. Each term on the Board [...]

On Friday March 22nd, Alberta One Call launched its new logo and a new slogan. It is our 24 hour warning system that is continuously on alert to warn you if there is an unusual sound and warn you of impending danger. Mark Ganden at the Oasis Medical Centre in Chestermere [...]
