Ted Morton opens local office

CHESTERMERE – On Saturday Jan. 21, conservative candidate Ted Morton opened the doors of his campaign office in Chestermere.

The office, which is located in Chestermere Town Square behind the Esso station, will serve as a part time location for Morton where he will be able to meet and speak with area residents.

Morton, who is required in Edmonton from Monday through Thursday, said that he hopes to spend as much time as he can in Chestermere on Fridays and Saturdays. He said that he will also be attending more community events and gatherings in the hopes of meeting more people in the community.

As far as why they set up the office locally, Morton said that as half of the voters in the Chestermere – Rocky View riding are on the east side, it makes sense for them to have a good location to stop in.

“We thought it would be important to show the people on the east side of the riding that we’re committed to their concerns,” he said.

Morton said that he was happy with the number of people who came out to meet him on the opening day of his new office, and that he was able to hear about some concerns from community members that he was not aware of before.

“One of the things I was told was that there was a lot of interested in getting some roads in the area paved, which I will add to my list of projects to try and help with,” he said.

Morton’s website will be updated in the coming weeks, and will provide information about when he will be available in Chestermere.
