In the world of fundraising, sometimes you have to get creative. The Chestermere Public Library did exactly that when they combined a used book sale with a bake sale. This was the second year the library had organized their “Read It and Eat” fundraiser where they accepted baked goods & used books from the community and then sold them by way of donation.
The event ran from October 17th – 19th and by noon Sunday the library had seen more than 400 people pass through their doors. Books of varying categories and by a wide array of authors along with a table full of yummy treats awaited those that took part in the event.
The library is always looking for donations of hardcover and paperback fictions in great condition, nonfiction in very good condition & published within the last 5 years, DVDs, CDs and book CDs. Aside from checking out books, the Chestermere Public Library offers a wide variety of services and programs. Book clubs for all ages, children’s activities and e-services such as downloadable books and movies.
After a very successful weekend, the library was able to raise $1188 that will be used towards growing the library.
