The Chestermere Historical Foundation is pleased to announce that the winner of the John Snow lithograph raffled off this fall and drawn for on December 8th was Glenn Davis of Calgary. Congratulations Glenn!
John Snow was a well-known lithographer in Calgary. He inspired and mentored many other print makers in the Calgary area. The CHF extends sincere appreciation to Romana Kaspar-Kraft of The Collector’s Gallery in Inglewood for donation of this beautiful print. The funds raised will be used to invest in storage for the many artifacts which CHF uses in the school education programs. This fall CHF members made five visits to schools bringing to Grade 1-3 students the ‘Day in the Life’ program, and for the older students in Grade Five, the political, economic, social and natural history of the City of Chestermere and Chestermere Lake. The Board is very open to considering further visits to any Chestermere schools in the future, and looks forward to acquiring new artifacts to enliven these visits!
The first meeting in 2016 for CHF will be held at the Chestermere Public Library Community Room, 6:30pm on Tuesday January 12th. New members are always welcome, or just drop in for a visit to hear about the new initiatives for 2016. Memberships are a good old fashioned bargain–$5 per year.
