Pee Wee By Chris Bailey
On our opponent’s 2 yard line, with 19 seconds remaining in the game, the Chestermere Chiefs Peewee team takes a knee to down the ball and win the game! That was how the first win of the season went down! Our Pee Wee athletes have shown a tremendous amount of growth and improvement since practices started in August of this year. This win over the Calgary Falcons was a close, hard fought battle that ended with a one-point victory (13-12). The Key Play was a 2-yard dive on an extra point attempt by Full Back Emmett Morris that gave the Chiefs a 7-0 lead. Without that extra point the game would have most likely ended in a 12-12 tie. The Chiefs also ran a perfectly executed fake punt for 37 yards by Punter and Middle Linebacker Ty Bailey and capped off the game again having Emmet Morris run in a dive play from 5 yards for the winning touchdown.
The season has been filled with ups and downs for the Pee Wee team. Starting back in August they started practicing three times a week in preparation for their first game that ended in 13-0 loss to the Calgary Lions. Since then they have shown exceptional dedication to the rigorous practice schedule and weekly games at Shouldice Athletic Park.
Three weeks after their first game, the Chiefs found themselves in the lead against the Calgary Rebels. With only nine seconds left in the game that lead taken away with a 60 yard run on the final play of the game.  It was a heart breaking loss for the Chiefs who had shown incredible desire and character throughout.
This year the team has been led by a strong group of veteran players like Full Back :Emmet Morris, Middle Linebacker: Ty Bailey, Outside Linebacker: Rowan Baerwaldt and Center Kayden Solvason. All who have been standouts this year for the Chiefs.
Only three games remain before the playoffs and the Chiefs hope their strong defence can capitalize on the momentum of their newfound offensive power and advance to the playoffs with great confidence.
Atom by Theo Price
A brisk northern wind blew through Shouldice Park as the Chestermere Chiefs Atoms team took on the perennial powerhouse the Calgary Bulldogs. The Chiefs knew they were in for tough battle and came out swinging. All the Atom Coaches couldn’t be more proud of the effort put forth by every single player. Make no mistake the Chestermere Atom team is developing into a great football team! The defense was fantastic again. With a bend but don’t break mentality. DB Dylan Johnson refuses to let size be a factor, and made much needed tackles. D-linemen Caden Cole and Lucas Scarlett (who both play offence and defense) proved once again how truly valuable they are to this ever improving team. The offence led by some outstanding blocking from O-linemen Kartik Naidu, Logan Madan and Cayden Dekker moved the ball well against a tough Bulldog defense. Two long TD runs by Gabriel Larios, one of which will be talked about for years to come, kept it close. A pick six from standout LB Jacob Roy sent the Chiefs on a roll. The coaches cannot stress enough how well this team played. The players’ effort and commitment is impressive to say the least. 4 more games to go and this group of 8-10 year olds are just heating up! Parents and all players should be more then proud of their continued hard work.
