Christmas Vacations I know it’s still summer, but Christmas is less than 5 months away and what better gift to your family than a warm weather holiday getaway! In recent years, Paul and I have found ourselves in Asia, Mexico and Hawaii over the Christmas holidays and we’ve started thinking about the possibility of getting away this year.

Here are a few interesting options around $5,000 that we found: The Grand at Moon Palace, Cancun Mexico All Inclusive resort $5,457 December 10-17, 2021 2 adults and 2 children (under 17 years old) There is something for everyone in the family at this amazing resort. Relaxing pools for the adults, or a full kid’s water park for the family. There is a Jack Nicklaus golf course, an indoor video arcade building complete with bumper cars when you need a break from the sun, and 10 restaurants to enjoy. Don’t forget to discover the secret speakeasy onsite, and snacks are available 24 hours a day. The all-inclusive experience includes top shelf wines, beer and spirits in any of the many lounges and restaurants. Pinch yourself, it’s real, it’s The Grand at Moon Palace Cancun.

Your Grand Deluxe Garden View room includes a minibar with sodas, bottled water, juices, domestic and imported beers (refreshed daily), In-room snacks include chips, chocolates, peanuts and crackers and of course all your meals and top shelf wine, beer and spirits. This one-of-a-kind Christmas river cruise through France and Germany takes you on an excursion to Heidelberg, Germany, to visit the fascinating ruins of Heidelberg Castle, towering magnificently
over the city. At this time of year, an ice rink can be found at the foot of the castle and the Christmas market is spread over five town squares. Delight in the holiday cheer with Glühwein (hot mulled wine), bratwursts, and other regional delicacies. You’ll also find an array of crafts, Christmas decorations, and gifts. Strasbourg, located on the border of France and Germany, perfectly blends the cultures of both countries. Strasbourg is home to one of the oldest and finest Christmas markets in Europe—dating back to the 16th century. Take in the aromas of mulled wine, spice cakes, and biscuits. Bask in the holiday atmosphere as you visit the Strasbourg Cathedral, a gothic masterpiece made of red sandstone, and containing ancient murals and fascinating astronomical clock. Your Christmas river cruise along the Rhine River takes you to Breisach, considered the gateway to Germany’s Black Forest—an area of unrivaled natural beauty, best known for Black Forest ham, cherry cake, and the cuckoo clock. There is no better setting than this time of year when smoke curls from the chimneys of the traditional Black Forest houses. Your delightful holiday cruise ends in Basel, Switzerland. Don’t miss this experience to savor the holiday season in traditional and beautiful Christmas traditions of European winter markets and festivities!
Spain 29 day Family Beach Vacation $4816 2 adults and 2 children under 17 December 1-29, 2021 Enjoy a 2 bedroom unit Located on a beach on the Mediterranean near Barcelona. Castelldefels Castle and Bodegas Guell Historical Complex are notable local landmarks, and travelers looking to shop may want to visit Anec Blau Shopping Center and Vilamarina Shopping Centre. Ready for a night out? Consider Sala Apolo and Barcelona Arts on Stage. Enjoy the great outdoors with horse riding and cave exploring or hop on a segway rental nearby and explore all the area has to offer. Public transport to Barcelona makes sightseeing day trips easy, and guests report loving to return to the property’s quiet location after a day in the busy city.
Please note that airfare is not included in any of these opportunities and as always, pricing, availability and inclusions are subject to change at any time.
Whatever your future vacation plans are you should consider booking sooner than later. Many travel venues are operating with limited rooms available; airlines are slowly adding more flights, but it will take time to get back to the flexibility we enjoyed pre-Covid. These things combined make booking more challenging, as there are fewer rooms for sale and a pent-up demand for all travel. Although whether countries are accepting all vaccinations, travel restrictions and covid testing pre and post holiday is still a concern, I believe that is going to be the new normal and we are just going to have to make plans to accommodate these things in our trips.
I’ve already started packing for our upcoming month in Europe. Can’t wait to get travelling again, even with all the travel restrictions and documentation!
