Card players and music lovers are being brought together with the Chestermere Regional Community Associations’ (CRCA) Dueling Pianos and Fun Money Casino fundraiser April 7.
We’re always looking for new opportunities to entertain and bring opportunities to the rec centre,” said CRCA General Manager Jody Nouwen.
The fun money casino has been the main fundraiser for the CRCA for the last two years.
“People have really liked it but we thought why not change it up a little and offer something a little bit new and unique,” said Nouwen.
In addition to the entertainment and card games, one of the draws and best parts of this event is that it is a fancy event happening here in the community.
“We really work hard to…class it up and make it a nice event for people to come to,” she said.
In addition to the casino games and piano music there will be a silent auction and 50/50 draws.
Appetizers and Cocktails will also be served.
Nouwen said that they have hired the Dueling Piano Kings for the night.
“They’re well known Piano entertainers,” she said.
The dueling pianos will play for about 2.5 hours primarily playing crowd requests.
“They start off playing some fun songs that kind of get people moving and then after…they start taking requests,” she said.
For those who have never experienced a dueling pianos show, Nouwen said it’s a lot of fun.
“Half a song will be played by one artist and the other half will be by the other,” she said, “or they’ll play together and kind of play off each other.”
Nouwen, who has been to other dueling piano shows, said she’s never seen the performers not know a requested song.
“Almost any genre you could ask, they know it,” she said.
The funds raised will be used to complete life cycle upgrades to the facility.
“We’re definitely looking to give the facility a…face lift,” she said.
“We’re going to be doing some painting, upgrading some of the tiling on the floors,” said Nouwen.
Tickets for the event are $40 per person or a table for 10 people can be reserved for $500 which includes reserved seating and a dedicated server for the table.
“This event…its for all community members,” said Nouwen, “We encourage all to come.”
In addition to ticket sales, the CRCA is raising funds through table sponsors at the event.
They are also still looking for volunteers to work the fundraiser.
Volunteer dealers, 50/50 ticket sellers, entrance table staff are some of the positions they are looking to fill.
